THE PRINCIPAL'S READING CHALLENGE! |
Mrs. Vu encourages all her students to read, read, read! Therefore, she challenges Stafford Primary School students to reach the school-wide goal for Accelerated Reader.
AR Theme: "Fishing for Books!" |
|
HOW ACCELERATED READER WORKS: |
First, students’ reading level range will be determined by a diagnostic tool. Then, students will begin reading books within their reading level range. After reading each book, students will take a comprehension test on the book. The score on the test determines the number of points earned for Accelerated Reader Points. Points can be accumulated for prizes from the School/Accelerated Reader Store.

STAFFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL ACCELERATED READER GOALS |
 SCHOOL WIDE GOAL FOR 2009-2010:
The Principal's Reading Challenge! is 1200 points. Students have exceeded their goal of 600 points and on December 18, 2009, Mrs. Vu was Humpty Vumpty and sat on a wall (the school's marquee). She waved to all her readers. The READING challenge continues! |
|
|
Humpty Vumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Vumpty wasn’t that tall.

READING AT HOME |
Parents play an important role in developing reading skills and encouraging the love for reading in their children. At school, the children are expected to read each morning during D.E.A.R (Drop Everything And Read) time, and parents are expected to ensure that their child comes to school equiped with a book each day. It is also expected that parents engage in reading activities with their child at home each day. Parents should read to their child or listen to their child read at least 15 minutes each day. Reading together is the best quality time spent together. |
