    Mrs. Jami Yaws

Hello!
This is my 3rd year teaching at Stafford Intermediate. I went to college for 3 years at Texas A&M. Whoop!!! And I graduated from University of Houston-Victoria. My husband and I are from Victoria, Texas.
My passion is teaching children. Growing up, the only job I ever wanted was to be a teacher. My Philosophy of Education is simple. I believe that ALL students regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religious background, and/or any other classification are deserving of a wholistic education. This wholistic approach would include, an education that will allow them to fully discover themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and benefit from necessary real world/real life instruction.
It is of the utmost importance that students receive an education that will not focus intently on curriculum, but that children acquire skills and a knowledge base that will precede them and allow them to function at a superior level throughout their entire academic career. To achieve this, they must have maximized exposure to technologies, a greater support base, a diverse and interdisciplinary curriculum, and a teacher who is willing to sacrifice to ensure that their students achieve not just at the present time, but also for a lifetime!

Summer Vacation
Last year my husband and I were able to go on a cruise. It was wonderful visiting places like Cabo San Lucas. But, this past summer, we just took small trips and spent most of our time enjoying our new home in Katy.
We did go to Oklahoma the first weekend of summer. My grandfather is from there and he showed us my Cherokee roots. We visited a very old cemetery where my ancestors rest. They were Cherokee and came from North Carolina BEFORE the Trail of Tears. I really enjoyed going to the museums and hearing stories that my grandfather remembers from his Cherokee grandmother.
