Special Olympics Eligibility

Eligibility for participation in Special Olympics is limited to persons who have an intellectual disability or who have related developmental disabilities that cause functional limitations both in general learning and in adaptive skills such as recreation, work, independent living, self-direction, or self-care. People with functional limitations based solely on a physical, behavioral, emotional, specific learning disability, or sensory disability are not eligible. Stafford MSD students ages 6 and older are eligible to participate in Special Olympics. However, only children who are ages 8 and older are eligible for competition. Students who are no longer eligible for special education services within the Stafford Municipal School District are no longer eligible for participation within the Stafford MSD Special Olympics program.

2012-2013 Special Olympics

Special Olympics practices are now in progress for the 2012-2013 school year.

The participants have been practicing for several weeks.  The first tournament will be in Webster on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

Bowling:  When a participant rolls three strikes in a row, this is known as a "Turkey."  One of our students rolled the first Turkey of this year last Friday!  Another student rolled two strikes in a row and a nine on the third, missing a Turkey by just one pin!  Way to go, SMSD!
