Liability Coverage |
Public school districts are immune for bodily injury to students and the public (except for limited liability for negligent operation and use of a motorized vehicle) as provided in the Texas Tort Claims Act § 101.021 and §101.051. |

Since some parents or guardians may not have medical coverage for their children, the District offers a low-cost student accident insurance coverage plan through Texas Kids First (effective July 1, 2009). Enrollment forms are available through the athletic trainer. |

Special Activities and Events |
Campus principals should always secure a certificate of insurance (with SMSD named as an additional insured), contract (reviewed by Business Manager), and any necessary waivers/releases during the planning period for a special activity and/or event with a vendor. |

Unemployment Insurance Coverage |
Stafford MSD utilizes a third-party interlocal contract with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) for administration of unemployment claims and attendance at dispute hearings before the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). |
